Discovery Green In Orange
Materials: Oil on canvas
Size: 87” x 53”
Discovery Green was formerly a parking lot. A magical transformation turned it into a 12-acre urban park in downtown Houston. A venue that combines nature on a grand scale with the emphasis on visual and performing arts. The nature playground holds amazing energy.
My connection with Discovery Green is all about walking the pier surrounded by lilies. Floating circles in a constant gentle motion transferred a sense of calm. I would sit on the pier for hours drawing to capture the spirit of the lilies in the landscape. The color orange in the title refers to the colors of fall, when the painting was started. The color orange suggests change, after summer, where green turns into orange before changing into brown.
